Teaching Philosophy

For over 18 years, Amy has been providing students with the know-how to take their visions from concept to reality.

She thrives in the classroom, and loves inspiring her students to find their own creative voices.

Possessing the talent and ability to convey complex metalsmithing processes through demonstration, explanation, and conversations about the handmade, Amy imparts the techniques as well as her passionate creativity to her students. Her mission is to give her students the power and permission to learn through experimentation, thus giving them wings to soar with.

As a lifelong learner Amy is ever expanding her own repertoire of design and metalsmithing techniques. She relishes the genuine connection she forges with her students in the collaborative and team community environment that she fosters in her classroom. She also teaches private students one-on-one in her Chicago studio.

Amy will always be a teacher, it is her life calling.
